History of Byttôw

History of Byttôw Byttôw Woodworking, Inc. is dedicated to manufacturing architectural woodwork and cabinetry of the highest quality. Three generations of skilled craftsmen have completed countless remodeling, new construction and woodworking projects since 1929 when Steve Byttôw gave birth to the Steve Byttôw Company. Mr. Byttôw was a skillful carpenter specializing in home remodeling projects in the Chicago area. Steve’s son, Norman, joined his father in 1949 when the business became Byttôw & Son. This talented duo planned, organized and executed a multitude of home renovations and business restorations to the delight of their respective owners for many years.

Norman’s talent, dedication to quality and beautiful custom room additions earned him the respect and reputation that have long provided his word-of-mouth advertising campaign.

In the early 1980’s, the demand for custom cabinetry increased. Byttôw clients were requesting made-to-order woodworking such as shelving, entertainment centers, millwork, trim, doors and many other custom-built items. In 1983, Mark Byttôw joined his father creating Byttôw Woodworking in order to serve the needs of their clientele. Mark and Norman have teamed up to design and manufacture unparalleled cabinetry of superior quality. The business has grown from the original 1000 square foot shop in Chicago’s Hegewisch neighborhood to its current 9000 square foot manufacturing facility in Chicago’s south suburbs. State-of-the-art production equipment now improves the entire process from panel-sizing to edge-banding to machining. An automotive style spray booth ensures a particle-free environment critical to consistently achieving perfectly applied paint and acrylic urethane finishes.
